Before starting, login as root
Run the following command to see the type of controller hardware you have:
lspci | grep –i texas
00:0c.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller
00:0c.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD)
00:0c.3 Class 0805: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controlle
Open a Terminal window: Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal
Load the drivers from terminal by entering the following command:
To test the card functionality and auto-mounting, insert an SD media card. It should auto mount.
If all went well you can now edit the /etc/rc.local
file so the drivers for the card reader load automatically on boot up.
Make a backup of your rc.local
file in case something goes wrong:
cp /etc/rc.local /etc/rc.local.backu
Open the file with gedit (or whatever editor you like):
Add the following entry to the end of the file:
